The iOS Music app has a nice and clean interface, that does what it’s supposed to do. However, it does lack a lot of basic functions that other OS’ provide as stock such as queuing songs, adding songs without itunes, adding songs from local directory or iFile etc. So here are some of the best cydia tweaks for the iOS music app to power up the stock music app with more functionality.
Aria only adds features to the music app that already should’ve been there. This tweak enables you to queue songs, which couldn’t be done on stock. Grid view allows you to view your albums and artists in a convenient to browse grid view, much like the desktop version of iTunes. You have the option to make the notch a rounded slider, just like the volume. Other options include a faster repeat option toggle, and the ability to have glyphs beside the shuffle and repeat toggles. Also gives a much better look to the ‘now playing’ screen. A must have tweak. Available on the Bigboss repo.
If you’re only looking for a tweak that helps in queuing your songs, then this light weight tweak is more preferable than Aria. Upnext allows you to play a set of songs in your preferred order without creating a playlist. You can swipe on any song and tap on the ‘Play Next’ button if you want it to be played right after the currently playing song or hit the ‘Queue’ button to add it in the queue. The queue can also be mnaged or rearranged from the now playing screen. It also adds a notification center widget!! Available on the Bigboss Repo.
3. Customcover and ColorFlow
A tweak which provides a hell lot of options for customizing the look of your music app and make it way more cooler. This tweak allows you to customize the style of the Album art, the overall design of the now playing and lockscreen music player view on the basis of the album artwork and much more. More themes can be added manually. Check out the images to see what this tweak does. One of our favourites. The only problem is that it works partially with iOS 8, though it will be updated very soon. Colorflow which has recently been updated for iOS 8, can also be tried. Is almost the same as customcover. Available on the Modmyi repo.
4. Lyricalizer / Lyricsxplorer
Two very useful tweaks, totally free of cost. As the name suggests, these two tweaks enable us to add lyrics to our music that are missing them. Lyricalizer searches for the lyrics by itself and caches them. Lyricsxplorer allows us to add lyrics manually. Available on the BigBoss repo
A very popular tweak that allows you to download free music directly to the music library from iTunes using ‘other’ sources. Check out this link for more details and steps for installing this tweak.
Another useful tweak that allows you to transfer audio files from any app, the local directory or from iFile directly to the music library. Avaulable on the Bigboss repo.
Another tweak that is definitely worth it’s price. Acapella replaces the tiny play/pause, forward, and scubbing buttons with more convenient gestures. This allows us to change the song or pause without even looking, whereas, we often miss the tiny buttons which are available on stock. a left to right swipe takes us to the next track, right to left takes us to the previous one. Tapping on the track titles acts as the play/pause button. A long press enable us to forward the song by 20 seconds. all these functions are also accessible on the control center and the lockscreen. A very useful tweak indeed, especially if you’re driving a lot.
As you can see in the image above, the ‘Spin’ tweak allows you to add this cool interface to the lockscreen when the music is playing. It changes the album artwork into a circular dial, with the playhead wrapped around it. Spin works with other music apps such as Pandora, Spotify etc. It also works on the iPad.
This completes our list of the Best Cydia tweaks for the iOS Music App. Hope you liked the list. Do you know of any tweak that deserves to be on this list, leave a comment below!
